Kids Graphic Tees: Artwork and Printing Guide
In this guide
A strong kids graphic tee starts with a clear idea and artwork that works at the garment's actual size. Use the intended audience, event, or collection to guide the design rather than relying on a dated trend list.
Keep the message readable
Choose one main illustration or phrase. Test small lettering at the finished print size and remove details that disappear. For a range of youth sizes, check whether one artwork size remains balanced or whether the order needs separate size groups.
Pair artwork with the right blank
Consider the fiber composition, fit, weight, and garment color. A pale design may need an underbase on a dark tee, while a highly detailed image may be better suited to a different process than a simple two-color logo. Ask the decorator to assess the actual file and blank together.
Prepare files and permissions
- Use artwork you own or have permission to reproduce.
- Provide the file type and resolution requested by the decorator.
- Confirm spelling, colors, dimensions, and placement on a proof.
- Avoid copying characters, team logos, or branded artwork without authorization.
Screen printing, transfers, and other methods have different setup and production requirements. Choose based on the artwork and quantity rather than assuming one method is always cheapest.
Review a physical sample
Inspect contrast, print detail, hand feel, and placement on the selected tee. Wash the sample according to compatible garment and decoration instructions. Keep the approved file and garment details with the order so reprints can be checked against the same reference, even when the design remains in use beyond a single season.
