Youth School Spirit Shirts: A Planning Guide

Youth School Spirit Shirts: A Planning Guide
In this guide

A school shirt order is easier to manage when the artwork, sizes, deadline, and approval process are settled before production. Start with a written order sheet and identify one person who can approve the final sample.

Collect the size breakdown early

Use the selected blank's size chart rather than assuming youth sizes are interchangeable across styles. If possible, offer sample sizes for comparison. Separate youth and adult quantities, record any personalized names, and confirm the delivery date before the order is finalized.

Prepare an approved logo file

Use artwork that the school or rights holder has authorized. Supply a vector file when the decorating process benefits from it, and confirm the approved colors and minimum lettering size. A low-resolution screenshot may need rebuilding before it can produce a clean print.

Choose the blank and decoration together

Consider fabric weight, fit, color availability, and the school's intended use. Screen printing can suit repeated designs, while compatible transfers can support names or smaller quantities. Embroidery works best when the logo remains readable at the intended scale and the backing suits the fabric.

  • Check the same design on the smallest and largest sizes.
  • Confirm contrast on every garment color.
  • Ask for a sample made with the actual blank and process.

Approve a complete production sheet

Include the garment style, color, size quantities, artwork dimensions, placement, spelling, and care instructions. Wash a decorated sample if the schedule allows. Agree how replacements and late additions will be handled; small follow-up orders may have different costs or availability from the original batch.
